The winery opened its doors in the spring of 1989. The name of the winery comes from a local legend that refers to the area’s heavy deer population. The winery logo is a deer. Jim Livingston, the winery’s owner, started the winery while working as an educator in Prince William County. Jim has been involved in Virginia wine production since the early seventies. He also established the first commercial vineyard in Stafford County in 1981.

In recent years, the winery has welcomed a new owner, Janette Evans, who is Cherokee.

The name of the estate comes from the original owner’s attempt to recreate the Garden of Eden in Virginia. The beautiful property is home to manicured lawns, rose gardens and ancient tree lines.
